|
| | Ms Geraldine McGuire MA in Education Principal of Junior School |
|
| Welcome to Sutton Park Junior School pages. I hope that you enjoy viewing the work of our children as much as we enjoy teaching them.
Every day our pupils are presented with opportunities to develop socially, emotionally and intellectually within this caring community.
We ensure that all pupils receive a broad and balanced integrated curriculum.
The well equipped Resource Room on the first floor allows staff and pupils to engage more fully in the practical side of the science curriculum and to include Cookery classes in a broad curriculum. All pupils visit the Library regularly and enjoy the Sports facilities during their timetabled P.E. classes.
In Sutton Park Junior School we aim to provide a happy, safe, secure and welcoming environment in which all pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential showing respect and love for one another.

| We are a small school with small classes and our curriculum must and does reflect a personalised, cutstom made programme for Sutton Park School. A good curriculum must be flexible to allow for individual needs and an ever-changing society.
The curriculum is all that the children encounter in School, formally and informally, intentinally and unintentionally which guides the academic, moral, social, physical and emotional development of the child.
As a community we celebrate success in ongoing displays of work and at regular assemblies. We support and affirm each other within the Community. We encourage our responsibility as a community through a variety of charitable work; in the local community, the wider community in Ireland and overseas. We unite as a community through chosen themes, which reflects an acknowledgement of the interdisciplinary nature of knowledge.
Integration within the curriculum is an essential component of enriched learning, it can help in the promotion of higher order thinking skills and allows a teacher to revisit content areas of the curriculum. Integration is a productive exercise in that it gives the children different perspectives and a greater depth of understanding of the same concepts. Integration facilitates a variety of learning styles and allows the use of different methodologies and assessment tools.
When planning, each teacher will look across the syllabus and aim to integrate subject content wherever possible. We aim through the curriculum to ensure that the children become confident, articulate, caring, respectful, reflective, independent, inquisitive, creative, motivated, proud, well balanced, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
We aim to educate the whole child to deal with the challenges of the present and the future. A Sutton Park student will have the confidence to deal with any difficulties they may encounter. Sutton Park students will be respectful of themselves, their communities and the environment. | | | School Hours
